If your TASCAM Digital Recorder doesn’t turn on…

I panicked the other day when my Tascam DR-05 digital recorder suddenly didn’t work. Pressing the Power/HOME button for a few seconds had no result ; the recorder seemed dead !
After downloading and reading the manual, I realized the HOLD switch had been mistakenly turned on, and this prevents the recorder from starting up ! It seems like I must not be the only person who has run into this, so for the common good I have created this blog post.
Here is a list of things I’d check. Good luck !
Check the HOLD switch, it should NOT be in the direction of the arrow.
Swap in new batteries.
Check battery orientation.
Try powering it with the USB cable.
